Airbnb Reveals Two Key Travel Trends for 2025

Airbnb just revealed its top travel trends for Spring 2025. Here’s what hosts need to know.

Key Details:

According to recent data from Airbnb, there are two dominant trends for Spring 2025.

Solo Travel

Airbnb reports a 90% increase in solo travel searches for Spring 2025 compared to last year. These independent travelers are particularly drawn to slower-paced trips that prioritize leisure and wellbeing over packed itineraries and rapid sightseeing.

One of the most notable aspects of this travel trend is the significant increase in trip duration. Solo travelers are taking substantially longer breaks, averaging 17 nights away, compared to just 9 nights for couples and 8 nights for families.

These longer solo-traveler stays tend to emphasize wellness-focused journeys, meaningful experiences, and deeper cultural immersion over traditional tourist itineraries.

Pet-Inclusive Travel

Searches for trips with pets have risen by 30% compared to last spring, according to Airbnb.

This trend indicates that travelers view their pets as essential companions for their journeys rather than obstacles to overcome.

When broken down further, solo travelers have had the highest increase in searches for pet-friendly accommodations since spring 2024, with searches increasing over 40% this year.

Our Take:

Savvy hosts can use this data to their advantage.

The rise of remote work has significantly impacted solo travel trends on Airbnb, creating new opportunities for extended stays.

Often, remote workers want to immerse themselves in destinations for weeks or months rather than days, and Airbnb’s perfectly cater to this growing market segment.

Help guests combine work and leisure by making sure your Airbnb listing provides (and clearly advertises) comfortable workspaces. And when hosting extended stay, go the extra mile to help your guests discover authentic local experiences that will offer an ideal balance.

To be pet-friendly, or not to be?

This is a hot button topic for hosts. But at this point, the data is clear: guests are specifically searching for properties that accommodate their four-legged companions.

  • Condé Nast Traveler reports: Pet-friendly listings are the second most commonly searched amenity on Airbnb, coming in right after swimming pools.
  • According to US News data: pet-friendliness ranks as the second most desired amenity at 18 percent of travelers.
  • And According to AirDNA, only 42% of 3 bedroom rentals in the US are pet friendly.

The data is telling us that by allowing pets in your Airbnb you eliminate 58% of the competition, and guest interest is skyrocketing.

Less competition + more demand = higher nightly rates and occupancy.
